The golf season on city-owned courses started strong, but it will come to an end with disappointing numbers.

Friday was the last chance for golfers to get in a round at Strathcona, Chapples and Municipal golf courses.

Director of Golf Tom Forsythe said the season looked good early on with perfect weather conditions in the spring. In June the three courses had seen about 10,000 rounds, but numbers flattened out with little gains in July and August.

Forsythe said he isn’t sure why there was a drop off, but admits that golf courses will end the season in the red. However, he said the losses will be nowhere near those experienced last year.
