This year marked the 6th annual Empty Bowls Caring Hearts fundraiser at Woodcrest Public School. The goal was to collect 2,000 cans. But through some friendly competition the students were able to collect about 3,200 cans.

Kaysa Boeckner was one of the main organizers. She says one of the competitions had the winner getting to choose Halloween costumes for two staff members.

She says the total amount was mind-blowing.

Price says for next year they may consider raising their goal.

The collected canned food will be donated to the Shelter House and the Regional Food Distribution Association.
