Stuff a Cruiser event a great success

The 8th Annual Stuff a Cruiser brought in more than 11,600 pounds of local food banks this season.

THUNDER BAY – The city and provincial police forces want to thank all who made donations to this year’s Stuff a Cruiser event.

Officers and volunteers were located outside Real Canadian Superstore, Walmart on Memorial Avenue, Metro Stores on Arthur Street and River Street, Safeway Store on Arthur Street, and Odena in Kakabeka Falls on Saturday, Dec. 7.

According to police officials, the event was a success. The community donated 11,600 pounds of non-perishable food items and more than $4,000 in cash donations support of the Regional Food Distribution Association and at Odena in Kakabeka Falls, about 1,000 pounds of non-perishable food items and $700 in cash donations was collected for the Rural Cupboard Food Bank.

All food items were provided to the RFDA and RCFB to assist with the goal that everyone in the community, as well as numerous communities throughout the North West Region, have food on their table over the festive season and beyond into the winter months.
