THUNDER BAY -- After nearly 80 years in business, Superior Bowladrome is closing its doors for good.

Owners Brian and Laurie Bonnie on Sunday announced on the alley's Facebook page that the end of an era has arrived.

"We would like to thank our many valued customers for their support over the last 33 years. Sadly, the bowling centre and restaurant will not be reopening as it has been sold and we will be retiring," the Bonnies posted.

"After 78 years, it is with heavy hearts that we announce Superior Bowladrome will no longer be a bowling centre."

The couple said the bowling family has always been there when they needed them, helping run great leagues and many other events.

"We have formed many friendships and will always treasure the memories that have come from being a part of so many people's lives and celebrations. The list is endless -- bowling road trips, youth and adult tournaments, year-end banquets and many functions, including weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, retirements, celebrations of life, family parties, corporate parties and fundraisers."

The post did not say who bought the building or what it's future use might be.
