THUNDER BAY – A 25-year-old Thunder Bay man has been arrested after a pair of early morning robberies over the weekend.
Thunder Bay Police, in a release issued on Monday, say they received a 911 call from an employee of the Esso gas station on Arthur Street West at about 7:34 a.m. on Sunday, reporting a robbery that had just occurred.
Minutes later, while police were searching the area for a suspect, a second robbery was reported, this time at the Shell Station further up the street.
The suspect was seen running south behind the gas station.
At 7:46 p.m. police spotted a person matching the description of the suspect standing beside a white vehicle at a nearby hotel parking lot.
An officer approached the male, who began resisting attempts to handcuff him.
A search later revealed the man had a knife in his pocket. Police say they also recovered the cash and other merchandise allegedly taken in the two robberies.
Thomas Raymond Bork was charged with two counts of robbery and resisting arrest.
He has made his first appearance in court and has been remanded into custody.
None of the charges have been proven in a court of law.
