Police arrested a suspect following an investigation into three taxicab robbery and carjackings.
Police made the arrest with assistance from the Thunder Bay Police Emergency Task Unit and K9 Unit. Staff Sgt. Don Lewis said police use the K9 unit when weapons are suspected.
Lewis added that police believe the suspect is linked to all three recent cab robberies.
The most recent robbery took place Monday night after a Roach’s cab driver responded to a call at a North Cumberland Street bar just after 11 p.m. Police say two men, one matching the description of a suspect believed to be involved in two similar robberies, were picked up.
The second incident on May 7, involved a female described as being about 20 years of age with black hair and a black ponytail and wearing a pink hoodie.
Lewis said the investigation is ongoing to find out the identities of the two suspected accomplices.
Thunder Bay Police Service officers arrested Paul Joseph Vukmanich, 23, of Thunder Bay around 11 p.m. on Tuesday. Officers arrested Vukmanich without incident and charged him with armed robbery, theft over $5,000 and breach of probation.
