Suspect arrested shortly after robbery

A 28-year-old woman faces a charge of robbery after Thursday evening incident.

Thunder Bay Police Service officers with the Uniform Patrol Branch were dispatched to the 300 block of Arundel Street at about 7:15 p.m. on Thursday, May 14 following reports of a robbery that had just occurred. 

When police arrived they learned the victim had been visited by two people at her residence at around 7 p.m. One of these visitors was known to the victim. 

Both parties were allowed inside the residence, at which point a 28-year-old female accused attacked the victim before fleeing the home with an undisclosed amount of cash. 

Paramedics with Superior North EMS provided treatment for the victim’s injuries at the scene. 

A short time later officers located the accused in the 300-block of Adelaide Street. The accused was arrested just after 7:30 p.m. 

The accused was transported to the Thunder Bay Police Service headquarters. 

Clarissa Laney MATASAWAGON, 28, of Thunder Bay, is charged with Robbery. 

She appeared in bail court Friday and was remanded into custody with a future appearance date.
