THUNDER BAY -- One of four suspects connected to the city's fourth homicide investigation of the year will return to court at the month's end.
Becky Mamakwa, 21, appeared via video at the Thunder Bay Courthouse in bail court Wednesday afternoon.
Mamakwa and Carl Spencer Rae, 31, were charged with aggravated assault in connection with the alleged robbery and beating of 52-year-old Christopher Adams on July 1 outside of city hall on the corner of Donald and May Streets.
The investigation became a homicide case after Adams succumbed to his injuries on July 8.
Mamakwa remains in custody and was remanded until July 30.
Police were said to be looking for four suspects involved in the initial assault, and until last Thursday all four suspects were reportedly at large. But Thunder Bay Police Service officials issued a clarification stating that two of the four suspects had been arrested shortly after the attack.
Two other men, considered by investigators to be persons of interest in this case, are still being sought by police.
There is no word yet from police on whether the charges will be upgraded from aggravated assault.
The investigation is ongoing.
