Suspected car hopper arrested after foot pursuit

A 23-year-old Thunder Bay man was arrested Thursday night following a brief foot pursuit.

Thunder Bay Police Service officers with the Uniform Patrol Branch were dispatched to the 400-block area of Dufferin Street just after 11 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 5 following reports of someone stealing from motor vehicles. 

A suspicious male was spotted in the area of Dufferin Street near Rollins Street checking vehicle door handles. When officers arrived they quickly located a suspect in the zero-to-100 block of Winnipeg Avenue. 

The suspect fled from police on foot. 

After a brief foot pursuit an officer arrested the suspect without further incident in the zero-to-100 block of High Street South. 

The accused male was found to be in possession of stolen items. 

Simon Evan ANGECONEB, 23, of Thunder Bay, is charged with Trespass at Night, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 and Probation Order Non Compliance. 

He appeared in bail court Friday and was released with a future appearance date.
