THUNDER BAY – A pair of locals appear to have captured an impaired driver on camera.
Shana Marchessault and her husband, James, were driving along Dawson Road when they spotted a vehicle driving through the ditch on the opposite side of the road.
The car was able to escape from the ditch and the driver continued along Dawson Road. Suspecting the driver was intoxicated, James Marchessault contacted the Thunder Bay Police Service via 911 as Shana continued to drive.
They followed the vehicle, recording dramatic footage of the driver weaving out of its lane several times. The video even shows oncoming traffic pass by, likely unaware that the suspected impaired driver was just weaving into that lane moments ago.
The incident took place on the evening of Saturday, Sept. 17 just before 11:30 p.m.
The couple called police a second time when they saw the vehicle turn right onto Alppila Road and decided it was best to end their pursuit at that time.
