Police and the MS Society of Thunder Bay are warning the public about a possible scam in the area.
Thunder Bay Police Service officials say that at least three residents have received phone calls from a person claiming to be soliciting on behalf of the MS Society. Officials with the MS Society, however, say the organization is not conducting a phone campaign to solicit funds directly.
The MS Society is involved in a campaign called Family and Friends. Details about that program can be found at the MS Society’s website.
Police say that if you receive a call and are not sure of the validity, contact the charity in question to confirm that they are conducting a legitimate fundraising campaign.
