Police in Nipigon have arrested a pickup truck tire thief.
Officials with the Nipigon detachment of the OPP say officers responded to a report of a stolen tire from a truck in the Nipigon Arena parking lot shortly after 11 p.m. Saturday.
Police say witnesses gave a description of the suspect’s vehicle.
Later, officers with the Schreiber detachment of the OPP conducted a traffic stop with the suspected vehicle on Highway 17 in Schreiber just before midnight.
After a brief investigation, police officers charged the driver.
The 39 year old man has been charged with possession of stolen property under $5,000 and theft under $5,000 from a motor vehicle.
The suspect will appear in court on May 15, 2012 to answer to these charges.
