Suspects arrested in Friday shooting

THUNDER BAY – Two suspects have been arrested and charged following an alleged Cumming Street shooting incident.

Police say an adult male, who has not been identified, was taken to hospital after being found with suspected gunshot wounds in the 200 block of the southside street. They are not believed to be life-threatening.

Jeffrey Morten, 46, of Thunder Bay, was arrested and charged with attempted murder using a restricted or prohibited firearm.

Jaiden Smith, of Pickering, Ont., faces similar charges.

Both accused appeared in court on Saturday and were remanded into custody. Police remain on scene investigating the violent incident and anyone with information is asked to phone police at (807) 684-1200.
