THUNDER BAY — Police have identified the three suspects arrested after a shooting on the city's north side earlier this week.

The three suspects, who were arrested in Sault Ste. Marie after allegedly fleeing Thunder Bay following the incident, were brought back to Thunder Bay and appeared in court on Thursday.

Police said two 18-year-olds — Jayden Bowen from Brampton and Kayshan Robertson from Scarborough — are each charged with two counts of attempted murder. Isaiah Broomfield, a 20-year-old from Toronto, is charged with two counts of accessory after the fact.

The shooting happened on Tuesday night in the 200 block of Ambrose Street, injuring two people, in an incident police said is believed to be connected to the illegal drug trade. Police said the victims continue to be treated for serious injuries.

The suspects were arrested on an Ontario Northland bus in Sault Ste. Marie. A police official said one of the suspects was armed with a loaded firearm and was wearing body armour, while another suspect threw a loaded firearm on the bus.

The accused remain in custody with future court dates scheduled.

None of the charges have been tested in court.
