Suspects in Windsor Street homicide plead guilty to lesser charges

THUNDER BAY – Two suspects charged in the stabbing death of an 18-year-old last year have pleaded guilty.

Clinton Netemegesic pleaded guilty to manslaughter and Cecil Matinet guilty to aggravated assault for their roles in the death of Brent Donio, who was killed outside a Windsor Street housing complex in July 2016.

Both suspects had been originally charged with second-degree murder.

According to a Thunder Bay Police Service media release, emergency responders were called to the area shortly after midnight on July 13, 2016 where two men had been fighting an 18-year-old man. Donio was transported to hospital by paramedics where he was pronounced dead.

Netemegesic, who was 26 at the time of the incident, remains in custody. Matinet, who was 18 at the time of his arrest, is not being held in custody.

Netemegesic and Matinet are scheduled for a sentencing hearing in May 2018.
