Police arrested a suspected impaired driver Saturday who was already on a suspended licence due to a May impaired driving charge.

A Thunder Bay Police Service officer was conducting focused speed enforcement on Elm Street near Margaret Street around 8:30 a.m. on Saturday July 18. At that time the officer observed an SUV being driven by a possible suspended driver.

The officer conducted a traffic stop on Margaret Street at Balsam Street and was able to confirm the motorist was a suspended driver. The driver’s suspension was in relation to a previous Impaired Driving incident on May 18, 2020.

The officers noticed multiple signs of impairment while interacting with the motorist.

The officer attempted to have the driver complete a roadside breath test, however, after multiple attempts the motorist refused or failed to complete the roadside test.

Katherine HANLEY, 30, of Thunder Bay is charged with Failure or Refusal to Comply with a Screening Demand.

She appeared in bail court on Sunday, July 19 and was released with a future appearance date.
