THUNDER BAY -- City police are awaiting autopsy results before they provide details about a suspicious death that is being investigated.

The Thunder Bay Police Service was called at about 10:45 p.m. Sunday night to a Machar Avenue residence where they found a deceased person upon arrival.

“That house has been held as a potential crime scene for forensic examination and it will be held until a post-mortem is conducted,” executive officer Chris Adams said.

“It is a suspicious death and that is done when there isn’t conclusive, immediate information in front of the officers when they arrive indicating natural causes.”

Adams added the investigation is still in the preliminary stages and more information will be likely be released upon the completion of the post-mortem.

Nearby residents were not aware of any incident Sunday night prior to police’s arrival.

However, some said the house was rented out and one said the occupants of the house were “the type of people you would not want as neighbours.”

A post-mortem exam has been scheduled for Tuesday and will be conducted in Thunder Bay.
