THUNDER BAY – Synergy North has named a new interim president and CEO.

The publicly-owned utility announced on Monday the appointment of Andrew Covello to the role, taking over the position immediately.

The move comes in the wake of the retirement of former president and CEO Tim Wilson, who announced his plan to depart Synergy North in February.

Covello has been with the company for nearly 30 years, joining in 1996, which should help ease the transition period.

"We are confident that Mr. Covello will provide strong leadership and continuity as we move forward," said Synergy North board of directors’ member Gary Armstrong.

"His commitment to the utility’s values and vision makes him an excellent choice for this interim role."

The board continues its search for a permanent replacement.
