T-Wolves lose first of the season to Badgers

Thunderwolves led by three after one quarter, but couldn't keep pace with the No. 3 team in the nation.

THUNDER BAY -- The Lakehead Thunderwolves are unbeaten no more. 

The No. 8 team in the nation on Saturday was trounced by the No. 3 Brock Badgers 81-58, outscored by 26 points over the final three quarters after leading 20-17 after the opening 10 minutes of play. 

Kascius Small-Martin put up 21 points, including 3-of-3 from beyond the arc, to lead the Badgers (3-1) to victory. Eric Gonzalez, with 11, and Laoui Msambya, with 10, were the only Lakehead players to hit double digits on the night. 

The loss drops LU to 3-1 on the season. 

Lakehead hosts Ottawa on Friday night at the CJ Sanders Fieldhouse, with Wilfrid Laurier scheduled for Saturday. Tip-off is 8 p.m. each night.
