THUNDER BAY – A rough start on Saturday night was too much of a hole to climb out of for the Lakehead Thunderwolves women’s basketball team.

The winless T-Wolves (0-8), found themselves down 16 points after 10 minutes and were outscored by the McMaster Marauders in each subsequent quarter, en route to an 85-57 defeat at the C.J. Sanders Fieldhouse.

Sarah Gates had 28 for McMaster, while Mia Spadafore had 24, hitting eight three-pointers in 11 shot attempts. Gates had 10 boards to finish with a double-double.

Lily Gruber-Schulz led the way for LU, finishing with 15 points and 11 rebounds for a double-double of her own. Eva Guilera, in her second game of the season, had eight.

Tiffany Reynolds contributed 10 for the Thunderwolves, who will look to pick up their first win of the season next weekend on the road against Western (6-1) and Windsor (3-5).
