T-Wolves win fourth straight, climb into playoff contention

SAULT STE. MARIE – After a 2-8 start, the Lakehead Thunderwolves have climbed back into a playoff position.

The T-Wolves on Sunday picked up their fourth straight victory, downing the host Algoma Thunderbirds 84-72 on Sunday afternoon, improving to 6-8 on the season.

Harold Santacruz led Lakehead offensively, scoring 21 points and grabbing eight rebounds. Nathan Bilamu, with 13 , and Tyler Sagl, with 11, also had double-digit points for LU, who hit 32 of 65 shots from the field.

Patrick-Oliver Mooyi, Johan Germain and Boluwatife Obasoto each had 12 points for the Thunderbirds (1-11).

The win vaults the T-Wolves into the 12th and final playoff spot in the OUA, a half-game ahead of York.

Lakehead will take to the road again next weekend to tangle with Waterloo and Laurier, returning home on Jan. 26 and Jan. 27 for games against the Brock Badgers.
