THUNDER BAY — Tbaytel crews continued to work Tuesday to fix some damage caused by a heavy rainstorm on Oct. 21.

An underground cable in the area between Red River Road and River Street was damaged beyond repair by a downpour that brought 40 millimetres or more of rain.

A Tbaytel spokesperson says approximately 75 customers on the city's north side were affected by outages or a partial degradation of services.

The company, he said, "has deployed extensive resources to fix the issue."

Several Tbaytel crews were seen working Tuesday afternoon at various locations near the Port Arthur Health Centre.

New cable has been installed in the area.

The spokesperson said Tbaytel has provided "alternative" service to those customers who rely on the company for essential services, but he did not provide details.

He said 15 customers who remained impacted by the outage were expected to have their service fully restored by the end of the day Tuesday.
