THUNDER BAY — Tbaytel is upgrading its wireless communications network in the lake area north of Thunder Bay.
A construction crew has started work to replace an existing tower on Dog Lake Road, between Surprise Lake and Two Island Lake.
A Tbaytel spokesperson told Tbnewswatch the old tower has "structural limitations," and needs to be replaced to accommodate the installation of LTE mobile broadband equipment.
The spokesperson said the work is part of Tbaytel's overall strategy to expand LTE across its northwestern Ontario network.
The work is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
