THUNDER BAY — The COVID-19 virus has taken the life of another resident of the the Thunder Bay region.
The Thunder Bay District Health Unit on Wednesday reported the death of the 31st area resident since the pandemic began.
The number of active cases across the district has also climbed to a new high of 389.
The number of patients receiving treatment in hospital rose by three from Tuesday, reaching 29, including 10 in the Intensive Care Unit of the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre.
The TBDHU reported 10 existing cases resolved since Tuesday, but there were 26 new cases, including 25 in the city and immediate surrounding area, and one in a First Nation community.
Ten of the new cases are the result of close contact, six have no known exposure source, and 10 cases remain under investigation.
