THUNDER BAY – Supply teachers with the Thunder Bay Catholic District School Board plan to meet on Thursday night to discuss the next steps in their contract bargaining process.

Thunder Bay Occasional Teachers Local Unit president Aldo Grillo, in a release issued to media, said it’s beyond time a deal was done at the local level.

“This three-year Occasional Teacher agreement has only four months left to go in it,” Grillo said. “Occasional teachers in Thunder Bay have been working since August 31, 2014 under the terms of an expired collective agreement.”

Grillo said some progress has been made, but a number of issues remain at the local level.

No monetary issues are left to bargain and a deal has been signed at the provincial level.

“This contract needs to get done and the agreement needs to be updated so that it is comparable to that of other occasional teachers working for other Catholic school boards in the province.”
