Teen joyride in stolen vehicle cut short by police

THUNDER BAY -- It took only 35 minutes for police to track down and arrest the teen suspects who stole a vehicle from a southside driveway Tuesday.

THUNDER BAY -- It took only 35 minutes for police to track down and arrest the teen suspects who stole a vehicle from a southside driveway Tuesday.

Thunder Bay Police Service officials say they received reports of a vehicle stolen from a Agate Bay driveway just before 4 a.m. Tuesday.

Police say patrol officers spotted the vehicle heading northbound on Brodie Street at 4:30 a.m.

The officers requested assistance and followed the vehicle while other officers converged into the area.

The vehicles was stopped on Arthur Street near Lille Street at 4:35 a.m.

The 15-year-old boy driver and a 17-year-old girl passenger were arrested without incident.

An 18-year-old boy, who was also a passenger, fled when the vehicle was stopped by police.

He was arrested on the 2300 block of East Donald Street a minute later after a short foot pursuit.

All three teens have been charged with possession of stolen property over $5,000.

The 15-year-old suspect appeared in court Tuesday morning and remains in custody. Meanwhile, the two passengers were released with future court dates.
