Teen linked to armed robbery located, arrested minutes after police arrival

A 15-year-old man faces robbery charges after entering a Dollarama brandishing a knife and demanding money.

Thunder Bay Police Service officers were dispatched to a business in the 100 block of Centennial Square just after 7:15 p.m. on Monday, April 6 following reports of a robbery that had just occurred.

When police arrived they learned a lone male had entered the Dollarama brandishing a knife. The suspect made demands for money before fleeing the store.

Just after 7:20 p.m. officers located a suspect matching the description of the accused. An investigation confirmed the male police located was connected to the robbery.

He was arrested without further incident.

A 15-year-old male, of Thunder Bay, faces charges of Robbery, and Possession of a Weapon Contrary to Prohibition Order.

He is expected to appear in bail court today.

The identity of the accused is being withheld in accordance with the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
