UPDATE: Transit driver charged after hitting teen pedestrian

Police investigating Friday morning incident that saw a pedestrian hit by a bus' mirror while he was crossing Vickers Street in a crosswalk.

THUNDER BAY – A Thunder Bay Transit driver has been charged with failing to yield to a pedestrian after making contact with a 17-year-old on the city's south side.

The Thunder Bay Police Service announced the Highway Traffic Act charge against the driver Friday afternoon, hours after the teen was struck by the mirror of the bus while walking northbound in the crosswalk on Vickers Street.

Police said the bus was making a left turn onto Vickers Street off Donald Street when the collision occurred.

The teen was taken to hospital to receive medical attention, though police have not provided any information on the severity of the injuries. The teen had not been released from hospital as of late Friday afternoon.
