A group of students are doing their part to make sure there is enough blood plasma to go around.
The group of local high school students will become Northwestern Ontario's first ambassadors for the Young Blood for Life program.
Twelve students at Superior Collegiate and Vocational Institute paired up with members of the Canadian Blood Services to kick off the new program Thursday. The first event of the program allowed students to learn what their blood type was.
Students will assist the organization by recruiting more teenage donors. The groups will raise awareness through challenges and incentive programs in the school.
The Young Blood for Life program will become a permanent fixture at the school. According to Canadian Blood Services research, there were only 37 teenage donors in Thunder Bay last year.
