THUNDER BAY – A pair of females who escaped from a youth detention facility on Sunday afternoon have been safely returned into custody.

Thunder Bay Police, in a release issued on Monday, said the two suspects went missing from the Creighton Youth Services facility just before 5 p.m., but were located in the area of Golf Links Road and William Street at about 5:45 p.m.

One of the accused was in custody on charges of public mischief, the other on two charges of impaired operation of a motor vehicle and aggravated assault.
An 18-year-old female, who was not named by police because of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, and a 17-year-old female, who cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, are charged with escaping lawful custody and failing to comply with a sentence.

Both are expected to appear in court on Monday.
