THUNDER BAY — Environment Canada says the Thunder Bay area received 17.5 to 20 centimetres of snow from the weather system that passed through on Tuesday.

That's precisely the amount that meteorologists had predicted would fall.

A monitoring station at Thunder Bay airport recorded 20 centimetres.

Another monitoring station that's tracked by Environment Canada recorded 17.5 centimetres.

The area's next snowfall is not expected until Friday night, but it's likely to amount to no more than five centimetres overnight and into Saturday.

What will be more concerning to most people is plunging temperatures.

Aside from Friday night, overnight lows over the next six nights are currently forecast to range between -26 and -29 degrees, well below the normal of -20.
