Theft, hit and run leads to two arrests

Two Thunder Bay women are facing criminal charges following a Safeway theft and a hit and run.

THUNDER BAY – City police have arrested two suspects in connection with a Safeway theft and a hit and run on the city’s north side Sunday night.

Thunder Bay Police say officers responded to reports of a theft from the Dawson Road Safeway Sunday night around 8:45 p.m.

Two females had taken beer from the store and fled from the parking lot in a car.

The vehicle was later involved in a hit and run collision with a pickup truck on Arthur Street near Euclid Avenue.

The vehicle was stopped by police just before 11 p.m. at Inglewood Crescent and University Drive.

The 18-year-old driver has been charged with theft, dangerous driving, failure to stop at the scene of an accident and impaired driving.

While the 22-year-old passenger has been charged with theft.
