THUNDER BAY – City police are investigating a pair of attempted south-side break-and-enters.

Both incidents involved a suspect or suspects attempting to steal a safe.

Police say the first attempted robbery took place on the second floor of a South Syndicate Avenue office on Dec. 3.

Police were called just after 8 a.m. to the scene, where they discovered the suspect or suspects gained entry by breaking a window at some point between noon the day before and when they arrived.

A cash tray had been pried open.

A second business had been entered in similar fashion, police discovered.

On Monday police responded to a break-and-enter at an office at Victoriaville Mall, where they found a safe suspended in metal fencing in the skylight area of the ceiling.

Sources say the Victoriaville office belongs to the City of Thunder Bay, though tbnewswatch.com has not been able to independently verify the claim.

The investigation continues and anyone with information is asked to contact police at 684-1200 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
