THUNDER BAY — Mother's Day is this Sunday.
Originally created in 1905 in the US by Anna Jarvis after her mother, Ann passed away. Mother Ann as she was known, was an advocate for peace during the Civil War and worked hard to mend fences between rival Confederate and Union neighbours.
By 1907, Anna had petitioned many prominent men in the United States to help make the day a formal day of service in churches. While in Canada, the day wasn't officially recognized until 1915.
This year, Mother's Day is fast approaching, and if you're still looking for something to do we've gathered a short list of activities.
