With a recent intake of 45 rescued cats and kittens in the last 11 days, Caring Hearts Cat Rescue has initiated a Southern Ontario transport of 54 past surrendered cats to make room for these recent rescues.

“We have had tremendous success with our two previous transports, with an overall adoption rate of 98 per cent, however none of the recent rescues will be transferred as some require medical attention and most are just too young or fragile to transport” says Michelle Gagnon, founder of Caring Hearts Cat Rescue & Sanctuary.

In collaboration with the North Bay Humane Society, who will be transporting the 54 past surrendered felines in their specially equipped transport trailer, these cats and kittens will be off to their new destinations this Wednesday, Oct. 2nd.

Some shelters who have partnered in receiving Caring Hearts cat rescues include the Toronto Humane Society, Peterborough Humane Society, Sudbury Humane Society, Ottawa Humane Society and North Bay Humane Society.

“It’s an opportunity for these surrendered cats and kittens to be given a second chance at finding a warm, loving forever home instead of being left abandoned or homeless on the streets”,  notes Cathy Gordon, who co-ordinates the Caring Hearts Cat Rescue transfers.

“Our goal is to find permanent homes for all of our rescues”, says Gordon.

This will be the third transfer this year for Caring Hearts Cat Rescue due to the overwhelming number of kittens and cats surrendered and rescued by this organization to date.

They are contacted daily regarding surrenders, strays and homeless cats, however just like any rescue, have a limited capacity at receiving only what they can.  The transfers do help in that it allows for more cats and kittens to be rescued.

The collaborative effort is enormous and requires numerous volunteers to co-ordinate.  If you are interested in helping with the transfer or looking to volunteer with Caring Hearts Cat Rescue, please contact them through their website www.caringheartscarescue.com
