Third youth charged in connection with tire slashing spree

Greenstone OPP charge third youth in connection with a string of tire slashings, which happened earlier this month.

GREENSTONE -- The Greenstone OPP investigation into a string of tire slashing that occurred in Longlac Nov. 5 has resulted in further charges.

Ontario Provincial Police in a release said they received a call  that a resident had awoken to find the tires on his vehicle had been slashed. A further investigation revealed there had been multiple tires slashed, mostly in the Benson Avenue and Kenogami Road area of the Northwestern Ontario community.

Police estimate the damage to be in the thousands of dollars.

Two 14-year-old female youths were arrested on November 16, 2016. One of the youths was charged with:

·         19 counts of mischief under $5000.00 contrary to section 430(4) of the Criminal Code

·         failure to comply with conditions of undertaking given by officer in charge contrary to section 145(5.1) of the Criminal Code 

The second youth was charged with:

·         1 count of mischief under $5000.00 contrary to section 430(4) of the Criminal Code

·         failure to comply with conditions of undertaking given by officer in charge contrary to section 145(5.1) of the Criminal Code 

On November 23, 2016 police arrested a third suspect.  A 12-year-old female of Long Lake #58 First Nation Territory is charged with:

·         19 counts of mischief under $5000.00 contrary to section 430(4) of the Criminal Code
