Thirteen new COVID-19 cases reported in Thunder Bay Disrict

Region now has 128 active cases, the most since the pandemic began.

THUNDER BAY – There are 13 new COVID-19 cases being reported on Friday in the Thunder Bay District.

All but one of the cases are listed as being in Thunder Bay and surrounding areas, with one of the cases in a district community.

The latest positive tests bring the case count to 422 since the pandemic began in March.

Eight of the cases are listed as being close contacts of other cases. Four of them are no known exposure and one is pending.

All 13 cases are self-isolating.

Of the 422 cases in the Thunder Bay District, 285 are considered resolved. Another 128 are active cases, the highest total since COVID-19 arrived in the area.

One person remains hospitalized and is in the intensive care unit. Nine people have died from COVID-19 in the district, including seven from the Southbridge Roseview nursing home.
