Thousands without power after Current River crash

Thousands of residents in Current River were without power Tuesday night. More than 3,500 people were without power after a car struck a hydro pole on Grenville Avenue around 6 p.m. Tuesday.

More than 3,500 people were without power after a car struck a hydro pole on Grenville Avenue around 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Although crews were able to restore power to 1,500 residents, another 2,000 were without power for over 13 hours said Thunder Bay Hydro spokeswoman Eileen Dias.

"There was extensive damage and it created a situation where we needed to bring more crews in as well as different equipment," Dias said. in "There certainly was some extra work involved in this."
