Three charged following shoplifting incident in Dryden

Shoplifting incident at Walmart leads to charges for three Dryden residents.

DRYDEN, Ont. – Dryden police have laid theft charges against three individuals following a shoplifting incident on Tuesday.

According to a release, Dryden Police Service arrested and charged three Dryden residents for shoplifting around 2 p.m. at Walmart located on Highway 17.

Police received a report of shoplifting taking place inside the store and upon arrival met individuals in the parking lot where two were placed under arrest.

One of the accused attempted to flee in the wooded area near Walmart, but was subsequently arrested.

A 23-year-old from Dryden has been charged with theft under $5,000, possession of stolen property under $5,000 and failing to comply with probation order.

A 45-year-old from Dryden has been charged with theft under $5,000.

Police also charged a 37-year-old with theft under $5,000 and failure to comply with a probation order.

All three have been released on an officer in charge undertaking and a promise to appear in Dryden court on Dec. 16.
