DRYDEN, Ont. - Three people are facing trafficking charges after a traffic stop in Dryden uncovered more than $160,000 worth of contraband cigarettes.
According to an Ontario Provincial Police media release, officers with the Dryden detachment and the Kenora detachment conducted a traffic stop on May 26 just before 6 p.m. in Docker Township west of Vermillion Bay.
During the investigation, officers found 41 cases of unmarked cigarettes with an estimated value of $164,000.
As a result, a 22-year-old woman and 50-year-old man from Saskatoon, Sask. as well as a 27-year-old Thornhill, Ont. man have been charged with trafficking contraband tobacco.
All three accused were released on an Appearance Notice and will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on Aug. 10, 2020.
