Thunder Bay – Three drivers were charged with stunt driving in just over an hour, according to a video posted by the Thunder Bay Police Service (TBPS) on Facebook on August 3.

Const. Thomas Armstrong, of the TBPS traffic unit, said the drivers were each caught speeding more than 40 kilometres per hour over the posted 50 kilometres per hour speed limit -- enough to qualify as stunt driving under Ontario law.

In the video, TBPS stated it “will continue enforcement efforts across the city in an effort to curb dangerous behaviours like this.”

Two of the drivers had lengthy prior records: one with 35 previous driving-related convictions, and another with 117.

Stunt driving charges carry immediate penalties, including a 14-day vehicle impoundment and a 30-day licence suspension. Upon conviction, first-time offenders face a minimum $2,000 fine and a one-year licence suspension.
