Three people from Toronto and Montreal areas charged with drug trafficking

An OPP-led Joint Forces Guns and Gangs Unit investigation resulted in charges against three people in Thunder Bay and the seizure of 3.7 kilos of cocaine (OPP)

THUNDER BAY — An OPP-led Joint Forces Guns and Gangs Enforcement Team investigation has led to the arrest of three people in Thunder Bay.

OPP reported Monday that two men from the Greater Toronto Area and a resident of the Montreal area are charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking and possession of proceeds of crime over $5,000.

Approximately 3.7 kilograms of suspected cocaine, $50,000 in cash, and a vehicle were seized on Jan. 19 during the execution of search warrants in Thunder Bay.

The operation also involved the OPP emergency response team, Nishnawbe Aski Police Service, Anishinabek Police Service and the Thunder Bay Police Service.

OPP said the investigation had been underway since October 2022.

The three accused were all remanded into custody pending their next court appearance.
