UPDATE: Three-vehicle collision sends two to hospital

Driver charged with failing to stop at a red light following a motor-vehicle collision in downtown Port Arthur involving school bus.

THUNDER BAY - Two people were sent to hospital as a precaution following a three vehicle collision involving a school bus in downtown Port Arthur.

The collision occurred just after 9 a.m. at the intersection of Red River Road and Court Street.

“One of the vehicles didn’t stop for a red light,” said Bruce Kajorinne, Thunder Bay Fire Rescue District Chief, on the scene. “One vehicle hit the other vehicle, which in turn hit the school bus.”

An investigation revealed that a black van travelling westbound on Red River Road ran a red light and struck a blue car and school bus that were travelling through the intersection on Court Street. 

Kajorinne said there didn’t appear to be any serious injuries and the two Individuals were sent to hospital as a precautionary measure.

There were no children on the bus at the time of the collision.

A female driver of the black van has been charged with failing to stop at a red light.
