Police searched a Candy Mountain Drive residence Wednesday after a three-year-old girl was critically injured late Tuesday afternoon.
Air ambulance transported the girl to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre Tuesday at about 5 p.m. after her family called 911. After arriving at the hospital the emergency medical team alerted the police the girl’s injuries seemed suspicious.
"An investigation then ensued and we’re in the process of continuing that investigation today (Wednesday)," said Thunder Bay Police Services’ spokesman Chris Adams.
"At this point investigators will be looking through the family home and what they’re trying to do, as well in other follow-ups, is try to piece together what led up to the injury that this young girl sustained."
Adams could not comment on the nature of the girl’s injuries. The girl’s status at the hospital is now listed as serious condition.
Few other details are known at this time. Police continue to investigate.
