THUNDER BAY – The Thunder Bay 55 Plus Centre celebrated 30 years of friendship and service on Sept. 29, with a Centre celebration. Events included a community BBQ with live music, speeches recognizing the 30 years of service, a bake sale, and car show held the following day.

Offering over 80 ongoing programs and multiple daily drop-in programs, the 55 Plus Centre continues to provide quality recreational, educational, and social opportunities in a welcoming environment for those 55 plus. The Centre typically sees nearly 500 people walk through the doors per day, taking part in various registered and drop-in programs, or stopping by the River Street Café, billiard room and library.

“Congratulations to all of our valued participants and volunteers, the staff, and City Council in their ongoing support and achieving this momentous anniversary with us,” said Dana Heinrich, Supervisor of Community Programs (Older Adults).
