THUNDER BAY — Four Thunder Bay-area farms and agricultural-related businesses will share more than $1 million in funding from the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation.

Energy, Northern Development and Mines Minister Greg Rickford made the announcement Wednesday.

The largest amount, $400,000 goes to Veumount Farm in Slate River for additional dairy barn facilities and equipment.

Jaspers Dairy Farm, also in Slate River, will receive about $320,000 to build a new barn and expand crop production, including wheat, canola and barley.

The Barn, a water, feed and rest station for livestock on Highway 11-17 west of the city, is getting $260,000 to build a larger facility.

Thunder Bay's ASM Innovations Inc. was awarded $42,000 to acquire a shipping container to be used as a workshop and to provide storage to manufacture year-round greenhouses.
