Thunder Bay airport warns of potential Air Canada service disruptions

Airport officials are cautioning passengers of potential delays and cancellations of Air Canada flights starting Saturday morning.

THUNDER BAY — The Thunder Bay International Airport is advising travellers of possible Air Canada service disruptions starting early Saturday morning.

In a Facebook post, the airport said Air Canada has begun a phased wind-down of operations in response to a strike notice issued by the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), which represents flight attendants nationwide.

Service interruptions could begin as early as 12:58 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 16. As part of the preparations for potential labour action, Air Canada has started cancelling flights across the country.

Travellers are advised to check their flight status before heading to the airport.
