Thunder Bay and District Labour Council holds rally

The Labour Council also launched the Ontario Federation of Workers Labour plan for the provincial election

THUNDER BAY – A rally was held by the Thunder Bay and District Labour Council at the Ontario Public Service Employees Union building, where residents from different groups in the community aired out their frustrations and issues with the current provincial government.

"For Northern Ontario, we are usually forgotten, and our issues are not of a big concern for the provincial bodies," said Carlos Santander-Maturana, rally organizer.

The Labour Council also launched the Ontario Federation of Workers Labour plan for the provincial election, with the hopes of electing a more progressive government.

Santander-Maturana, says that he wants a government that listens to the concerns of their people, especially those in Northern Ontario.

“We have not only union talking here, but community groups that are concerned about poverty in Thunder Bay, about social injustice, injured worker group, and union who are really hinting at what's going to happen on June the 2nd, and they want their issues to be heard,” said Santander-Maturana.
