TORONTO — A large group of family and friends, including dozens of Northwestern Ontario residents, are in line to split a $1 million Lotto Max prize.

OLG has named 63 people from across the province as joint holders of a Lotto Max Maxmillions ticket drawn on June 18, 2021.

The group includes 31 residents of Atikokan, three people from Thunder Bay, and a resident of Sioux Lookout.

One of the claimants – from Atikokan – worked at an authorized OLG retailer at the time the ticket was purchased, while another – from St. Catharines – currently works for an authorized OLG retailer.

As a result, the claim falls within OLG's definition of an Insider Win.

Neither individual bought or validated the ticket at their place of employment.

The ticket was purchased in Cambridge.

But OLG guidelines require that claims of $10,000 or more made by insiders undergo enhanced review and validation, as well as a 30-day publication period prior to payment, to ensure there are no additional claims to the prize.

The money will be distributed on Aug. 26, 2022 provided no further claims have been submitted by then.

Each of the 63 current claimants will receive almost $16,000.
