THUNDER BAY — The Thunder Bay Chamber of Commerce is helping businesses in the Greenstone area keep their employees and community protected from COVID-19.

It's collaborated with the Geraldton Chamber and Geraldton Times Star to distribute Rapid Antigen Test kits.

The program is available through a partnership with the Ontario Chamber of Commerce, Canadian Chamber of Commerce, and the Ontario and federal governments.

The initiative provides free rapid antigen tests for employees of small and medium-sized businesses, including non-chamber members.

The goal is to identify asymptomatic cases of COVID-19 in the workplace that might otherwise be missed.

Eric Pietsch of the Geraldton Chamber said the kits are a welcome additional screening tool for businesses to help prevent the spread of the virus in work environments while giving staff extra peace of mind.

The Thunder Bay Chamber has already distributed more than 14,000 free test kits to 130 participating businesses in the District of Thunder Bay, with more businesses signing on daily.
